

Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment ProgramsHarbor Oaks Hospital offers outpatient, inpatient and partial hospitalization programs for children ages 5 to 12 and adolescents ages 13 to 17. Under the medical direction of a child/adolescent psychiatrist, each patient receives an individualized treatment plan which is implemented by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, educational specialists and activity therapists and discharge planners. These programs provide a controlled and structured environment for children and adolescents having emotional and behavioral difficulties. Through individual, group, family and expressive therapies, patients learn healthy behaviors to cope with problems. Family InvolvementAt Harbor Oaks we recognize that family involvement is essential to recovery. Through the use of individual family sessions and involvement in groups, the family is educated on conflict resolution, effective communications and parenting skills. Program Components
Discharge Planning is initiated upon admission to ensure the supportive environment necessary for recovery is in place upon discharge. Through ongoing communication with the referring professional, the patient experiences a smooth transition to partial hospitalization or back to school and home with supportive outpatient counseling.
