How We Work with the VA

Harbor Oaks Hospital is proud to serve United States military veterans who are seeking treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns through the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network.

What Is the Community Care Network?

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network (CCN) was established in 2018 to give veterans more direct access to comprehensive healthcare.

The CCN connects veterans with highly vetted treatment providers in communities across the country. This allows veterans to receive treatment from authorized providers within the community, as well as from VA facilities.

The CCN is divided into six regional networks. It includes thoroughly vetted treatment providers for residents of all 50 states and all U.S. territories, which are developed by third-party administrators Optum Public Sector Solutions Inc. and TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

Harbor Oaks Hospital accepts both Optum and TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

Optum

Optum Public Sector Solutions Inc., generally known as Optum, is part of UnitedHealth Group.

Optum received a contract in 2018 from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to serve as the third-party administrator (TPA) for three regions in the VA’s Community Care Network.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance

TriWest Healthcare Alliance has been serving veterans and members of the military community since its founding in 1996.

In addition to administering the Department of Defense TRICARE program for active-duty military members, TriWest Healthcare Alliance administers Regions 4 and 5 of the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (CCN).
